Feel the Music!

NEW! Check out the new "More Feel the Music!" pull down menu to the right and read about Feel the Music! in NYC public schools PS 124 and the Millennium High School, at Sibs Place, and see teaching artist bios!

WFMH's signature program, Feel the Music!, offers a rich array of culturally diverse, interactive music/art workshops and events designed to facilitate creative self-expression. Workshops are taught by renowned teaching artists and musicians who also serve as positive role models. Fun and engaging, Feel the Music! provides interactive, hands-on music and arts skills in a supportive community environment while nourishing and encouraging each individual's own creativity through songwriting, composition, performance and creation of artistic works.

We offer workshops in songwriting, singing, percussion, jazz, music technology, video production, art, individual music lessons and a concert series. Workshops are taught by renowned professional musicians and artists who love teaching.

Feel the Music! offers age appropriate workshops, no prior musical experience necessary. In addition, music/arts workshops are available for adult caregivers.

Feel the Music! also sponsors retreats, special events and guest artists concerts throughout the year.

Free Feel the Music! music and arts workshops are available for families affected by 9/11 including those who experienced the loss of a loved one; have a parent who worked on the WTC recovery, who have a parent who was a survivor, witnesses and/or those who live, work or attend school in Lower Manhattan.

Feel the Music! has been such a success that we now offer after-school percussion at PS 124 in Chinatown and after-school songwriting at the Millennium High School, and guitar/piano to Sibs Place, a hospital-based wellness space for children who have a chronically ill sibling.

"Thousands of children were traumatized by the loss or injury of a loved one on September 11. The World Foundation for Music and Healing offers a community-based approach to reach those children whose families were among the most seriously disrupted and who may be coping in signifigantly different ways."— Alan Goodman, executive director of the American Red Cross Liberty Disaster Relief Fund

This project is supported by a September 11 recovery grant from the American Red Cross Liberty Disaster Relief Fund. For more information visit: www.redcross.org/september11/help
