Arturo O'Farrill is the pianist and music director of Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra and a Board member of the Jazz Ministry at Saint Peter's Church. He has taught music for over twenty years, performed all over the world and is committed to helping children discover the power and beauty of music. Personally touched by 9/11, he is inspired to use music to help reach the children most profoundly affected.

Arturo O'Farrill is the Music Director of The World Foundation for Music and Healing and its "Feel the Music!" program.

New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis

NYU's Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy & Psychoanalysis provides advanced education for postdoctoral (post Ph.D.) licensed psychologists and other mental health professionals in the theory and practice of psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. Established in 1961, it is the largest psychoanalytic training program in the country. The Postdoctoral Program has an internationally-known teaching faculty and outstanding clinical supervisors. The program offers a clinical sub-specialty training program in trauma and the psychology of disaster.

NYU Post-Doc Director Lewis Aron, Ph.D. was an early supporter of the creation of the World Foundation for Music and Healing and suggested the creation of a dedicated NYU Postdoc committee, with Dr. Steven Knoblauch as Chair, to advise Feel the Music!.

The NYU Postdoctoral Clinic is the clinical facility for the Post-Doctoral training program. Directed by Spyros Orfanos, Ph.D., the clinic is designed to provide individual intensive psychotherapy and psychoanalysis for a limited number of individuals unable to afford private fees. Clinic fees are arranged according to the patient's income.

Tuesday's Children

Tuesday's Children is a non-profit family service organization that has made a long-term commitment to every child who lost a parent on 9/11 by providing a wide-range of programs including Mentoring, Career Paths for teens, next step life skills and leadership training for adults and special events for families. Tuesday's Children's programs are created with one simple goal - to develop and provide the resources necessary to ensure families reach their full potential. Tuesday's Children is committed to bringing Feel the Music! to their families.

September 11th Families' Association

The September 11th Families' Association was created by firefighters and family members who lost loved ones on 9/11. The Association distributes information to over 4,400 9/11 families via newsletters, emails and their website. The mission of The September 11th Families' Association is to unite September 11th families, communicate information & resources, provide a vehicle for families' voices regarding the unprecedented events of 9/11/01 and create educational programs for children and family members. The September 11th Families' Association has supported Feel the Music! from its earliest stages.

Saint Peter's Church, renowned for music events in New York City, has offered a home for Feel the Music! since 2005. Over the years, the Jazz Ministry at Saint Peter's has faithfully nourished the traditions and forms of the art of Jazz with love and respect, while nurturing, counseling, and befriending thousands of musicians, their families and friends in time of need. Saint Peter's supports all creative endeavors including the arts, music, outreach to the needy, and support for the ill, to improve life in our city. Also known as "The Jazz Church," Saint Peter's Church/ Midtown Arts Common is centrally located in midtown Manhattan.

Bashiri Johnson is the founder of, and visionary behind Rhythm Healing™. Bashiri has enjoyed over 20 years as a professional percussionist, songwriter and producer in the entertainment business. Bashiri's track record and credits are without equal, having contributed his talents to artists and films as varied as Madonna, Whitney Houston, Miles Davis, Ray Charles, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Dolly Parton, Santana, Maxwell, Celine Dion, Mission Impossible, Godzilla, Hitch, The Score, The Bodyguard, and untold numbers of commercials, TV performances, and live concerts. Bashiri has had a successful career recording, performing, and producing his music, educating, designing instruments, creating DVDs and sound libraries. For thirty years, FAF has been dedicated to building global understanding through cultural exchange and cooperation and uses the arts as a tool for healing. FAF's 9/11 relief program has helped hundreds of families, especially children affected by the tragedy of 9/11. The use of arts and culture as a unifying tool for relief, healing, reconciliation, and education is at the core of FAF's mission and the foundation for its creation.

Founded in 1973, FAF was named a Flagship Partner in UNESCO's International Year for the Culture of Peace and Nonviolence to Children, became an official affiliate of the United Nations' Department of Public Information, directly served thousands of young individuals worldwide though its international exchange programs, and received global praise for its work in bringing young people together from warring nations. FAF programs have included many well-known participants throughout the last four decades such as United Nations' Secretary General Kofi Annan, Mother Theresa, Senator Jay Rockefeller, President Vaclav Havel, and author Alex Haley.

Friendship Ambassadors Foundation served as fiscal agent for The World Foundation for Music and Healing from 2005-2008, providing administrative support and accounting services while WFMH awaited its own 501c3 status.
